Self Care Journey |Why Self Care Is So Important
- In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, often neglecting our own needs. However, it’s crucial to remember that self-care matters. Self-care matters, and it can have a profound impact on your physical, mental, and emotional health. In this article, we will explore why self-care matters to you personally, and provide you with practical tips to incorporate it into your daily routine.
- Notably, this is one that I really wish someone had sat down and talked to me about. Namely, about avoiding or canceling toxic people from your life. I had a very thankful Pollyanna attitude about things growing up and thought that if you love people enough, everything will turn out fine. I didn’t know. Then again, I never heard the term toxic people, or narcissism growing up either. I didn’t know what that was. To begin with, don’t let yourself spend decades with these types of so-called friends or extended family members that make you emotionally sick. Moreover, this is definitely a red flag!🚩
- In a word, there’s no moral or biblical reason you have to do that. Whereas that type of behavior crosses the line into twisted and dysfunctional human relations, as described by Dr. Audrey Sherman, Psychologist, in one of her recent articles. Given these points, you can love someone from a distance. And if you find this person is toxic and that no matter how much care you give them, then it may be time to step back a bit. Overall, this may seem like hard advice, but it will save you from a tremendous amount of emotional, spiritual, and even physical pain later on in your life. And so necessary to care for yourself.

Understanding Why Self Care Matters:|Self Care Wellness
- Self-care matters because it allows you to recharge, rejuvenate, and nurture yourself. By practicing self care, you can enhance your overall well-being and lead a more fulfilling lifestyle. Remember, self-care is not selfish; it’s a necessary act of self-love.
- How do you get self care for adults? I always thought that a massage was some kind of luxury thing that ladies who spent all afternoon having lunch would then do afterward. Like in the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” It didn’t dawn on me that everyday working folks would just go in and get a massage. Well, it just seems like a pampering type of activity. You know, like getting your nails done… So it didn’t register with me until I started to have a tremendous amount of back pain. Chiropractic care and Muscular Therapy didn’t help. In a brave effort to ditch the pain, I decided to try massage. Well, I was amazed. One was because it did help relieve my pain. Secondly, it made me realize that I needed to invest in myself.
- Also, mental self-care is vital for maintaining cognitive health. Engage in activities that stimulate your mind, such as reading, solving puzzles, or learning new skills. By prioritizing mental self-care, you can enhance your focus, creativity, and overall mental well-being.
- It has been my life experience that when I “burn the candle at both ends”, my mood and mental health started to be affected. We can only take so much…💜

- And that I was certainly worth a massage twice a month. Such a small investment for my own health. Later on, I realized that getting a massage is not just about being frilly. Indeed, when you massage the muscles in the body, it eases sore muscles. And can help manage different kinds of pain away. It also helps recirculate the blood, which can be a great benefit for some. In case you’re really not into massage, consider other types of healing. Perhaps acupuncture treatments or a Naturopath. In fact, don’t wait until your body cries out or collapses on you before you treat it. In the same way, think of this type of care as preventive care or as an investment in your health. You would purchase steel-toe construction boots if you work at an on-site area!

- Let’s take a look at a self care assessment. Similarly, living in a convenient and prepackaged society, we often overlook the power of our five senses. And one of the often-forgotten senses is our sense of smell. There is research that demonstrates the power of attractive scents. The global perfume industry reached a value of $38.8 Billion in 2018. (Yes, that was B for Billion). Furthermore, Sephora stated that 52% of a woman purchased perfumes in the US market. As a result, there must be something to this scent story. Scents have been mood enhancers and medicinal enhancers for centuries. With this in mind, the next time you meet up with your bow, try on a new perfume and see what happens.
On the other hand, feeling like it’s been a long day, then tap on some rose water. All of a sudden, feel a headache coming, my neck getting sore, rub some lavender oil on. And soothe yourself in minutes. Another study concluded that hospital patients show a positive impact when brought flowers. The flowers seemed to increase optimism and the rate of their recovery, according to a study done by Watson & Burlingame, 1960. So next time you are walking down the busy street, and say to yourself, “Those flowers for sale are so pretty”, STOP, and buy them! Self Care Motivation| Just Move It!
- Do you have self care goals? We’ve heard over and over again how exercise is good for us. And it is, unfortunately not everyone has the time for exercise, and not everyone enjoys exercising. So we need to think out of the box. Meanwhile, what can you do? To begin with and get exercise without it feeling like exercise. All things considered, for those of you who hate to exercise~ like me… I’ve adapted. Now, how about a playlist? Make yourself your own playlist with upbeat lively songs if you have to work at a computer. Try to shut off your computer and take a few minutes’ break every hour. Put your playlist on and dance around. You can even dance in the washroom! You can dance in your office and you can close the door. Generally speaking, the point is just to get yourself out of the chair and move so that you’re not stuck. Of course if possible and you can leave your office, please do!
- Instead of going to the cafeteria on your break time and having a greasy and delicious snack, how about packing an apple or some biscuits, and taking a walk? What if you may think “Oh, but there’s not enough time. I only have 15 minutes”. Believe it or not just taking the stairs instead of the elevator regularly, depending on what floor you work or live on can help. Actually, you can get healthy and lose some weight in only 15 minutes a day. Assuming the important factor which is to be consistent. One of the biggest deterrents to exercise is that some people just don’t like exercise. So if you make it too complicated, like getting a four thousand dollar membership to the gym, and having to get up at five am, then you’re really setting yourself up for failure.
- Given these points, micro-proportion this new habit of exercise. How about trying to make exercising a very, very small activity in the beginning? But do it every day. So you may feel your overall health revitalize and your figure will appreciate it too. Bring a friend or colleague along. Or you could even park your car farther away unless you have a driveway. So that you could have the routine of walking to and from your car.
- So it is agreeable that physical self-care is an essential aspect of overall wellbeing. Engaging in regular exercise, eating nutritious meals, and getting enough sleep are all crucial components of self-care. By taking care of your physical health, you can have more energy and vitality to pursue your passions.
-
Motional self-care matters because it allows you to acknowledge and process your emotions. Engage in activities that bring you joy, such as spending time with loved ones, practicing mindfulness, or journaling. By nurturing your emotional well-being, you can cultivate resilience and improve your relationships.

That is to say, helping others promotes a rush of endorphins in the brain brought out by the positive interchange. By all means, helping others is a great way to feel a sense of belonging. Generally speaking, people have reciprocal gratitude when someone helps them out. Added with the benefits of face-to-face activities which ease loneliness and isolation. Think your life is in a rut? Try helping out at your local homeless shelter for a while.
Surprisingly, the experience will provide a sense of perspective to help you become aware of your blessings in life. A point often overlooked is that it helps build our social support system. Various studies showed that helping others boosts the immune system. Most compelling evidence indicates that helping others gives us the ability to wash away negative feelings like anger and aggression, it creates calm within us, promotes fewer pains, and overall better health. Notably, some people say it even gives them more energy. For these reasons, sometimes we just need to get out of our own heads.
